Whenever a wedding request is received by Caribbean Musician, the team of musicians all get excited at the creativity of the event planner and the bride and groom. The endless possibilities to make this unique event exactly what it is - unique. This time when we heard that the special occasion is a Friday at 10:30 in the morning, and an October wedding the team no less sprung into action. Maybe it is a garden affair, or at the beach or even a brunch wedding set-up.
However, this time it was to be in a church. In the Caribbean, when persons hear of wedding ceremonies, there are peering eyes trying to get a glimpse of the dress. Okay, so it is a church wedding - and while working with the bride the accent gave it away. Under strict instructions, this is an intimate wedding, just my parents and siblings and his parents and siblings. We want to keep it special that there is no outside interference, no distractions and most of all - it is about us.
Well, the organist was booked and it was to be in the architecture of an Anglican church. Pipe Organ of course and lots of maestoso, the request was to ensure that the trumpets sounded as the bride made her grand entrance. Indeed it was pomp and circumstance, as she was brought up midway by her mother and then carried to the altar by her father.
The hymn was played and as requested the space was filled with music as if there were more than 500 persons. The colour was felt in the music as this was a moment of celebration, their moment of celebration. The organist on taking a look around the church saw no more than ten guests. It was indeed an intimate wedding ceremony. On drawing on the event, the couple wanted a tradition pipe organ as part of their ceremony, hence the use of the church. There were no visible on-lookers and the place when the music stopped had just the sound of chirping birds.

As the organist played a traditional postlude, the couple took their time to process down the isle. This new moment could be seen to be one which was savoured by the bride and groom, as they relished in the traditional but non-traditionally. The peeling of the bells again signaled that this was a happy moment by an intimate couple.
