Best of the Worse

Frazzled Beaker

Often persons are thrown into the entertaining space and even with the best of intentions they should be warned that if anything can go wrong then it just might. Very few persons are prepared for being the hosts of events, and don't know what to do. What persons can do is plan for the worst and hope for the best.

Don't Sit & Complain - Be Creative

Complaining will only feed the negative situation....heck you've got guests to entertain. Remember to put on the happy face and get a close ally to help work on fixing the situation. In other words have a wingman close. Kick off your formal shoes and get comfortable "digging in the trenches".

If its the drinks

Send one of your close pals to the nearest convenience and pile them in the boot as you remain on site keeping the party going. As simple as we think this may be, while persons are under pressure this may not come as the obvious solution to the problem. Get your wingman on this.

It may be the food

Similarly if its the food, then you can again have your close buddy map

out two or three spots that they can nip by and grab a few things either as key ingredients to create "special" dishes that can be done quickly OR, alternatively the eateries in the area will have to be spots to pick up something that's already prepared.

It might be the entertainment

Did you warn the comedian that he should stick to just clean jokes? If you didn't then easily pass a note to him as you conveniently bring him his "glass" of water. You must always watch the general expression of your audience.

Did you forget to call an MC, but have a talkative DJ?

You've just solved your problem...

We've even seen that some events just could not be salvaged. Surely you can think of one or two, large or small. Sometimes its just fine to ride out the storm as the variables unfold. Paid events are much more testy than the free ones, and therefore some persons upfront acknowledge their weaknesses and show that they are also human. This sometimes quells the ire of the audience, because all they need to hear is that someone understands what they have just experienced. Having done just that makes you bigger the next time around, and it also shows that you understand that its your patrons that you need.

Christmas Party - Caribbean Musicians Dancers

Especially in entertainment - you'll need a few good persons on your side, if things are going down-hill for what-ever reason. One must remember that if it impacts the guests that you are hosting, then it'll also impact you. Next time that you are looking to host an event even if you don't use the event planner of that company, having some form of advice from the experts lend to you being a smooth host and your guest having an unforgettable night.

Maybe if you have any additional suggestions that we can consider, and that can be shared with others, that'll be great.
